Ashton was drafted 26th overall by the Canucks in 1979 and made their roster that season, he struggled to find ice time and was traded two seasons later to Colorado. He played for New Jersey, Minnesota, Quebec, Winnipeg, Boston, and Calgary. He's the father of Maple Leaf Carter Ashton.
