Tom Gilbert

Mailed out: September 23, 2014
Returned: November 10, 2014
c/o Canadiens - return #95

Initially drafted by the Colorado Avalanche Tom Gilbert would be traded to the Edmonton Oilers along with a couple draft picks in exchange for star fan favourite Tommy Salo. Gilbert switched from forward to defence during his senior year of high school transitioning into a trusted two way player. He would play four strong campaigns with the University of Wisconsin Madison before joining the Edmonton Oilers.

Kyle Brodziak

Mailed out: June 20, 2014
Returned: November 4, 2014
Return #88 - 137 days

A bit of a late bloomer Kyle Brodziak was passed over in the 2002 draft, and then fell to the seventh round in 2003 where the Edmonton Oilers selected him. It during the 2003/2004 season Brodziak was seen as the hidden gem of the draft posting 93 points with the Moose Jaw Warriors. This return is cool because I thought I had found Kyle's address in the yellow pages back in June, it turned out to be another cousin. I got a letter today from his Uncle/God Father saying that the cousin I had mailed it to got it to him, and that while Kyle is in Minnesota that he had an extra two cards for me that were signed.

Jason Zucker

Mailed out: March 31, 2014
Returned: September 4, 2014
157 days - c/o Minnesota Wild

Zucker a University of Denver alumni has bounced between the Wild and their farm team the last couple seasons. This past year was shut down for the rest of the year after undergoing surgery. I can't wait for him to come back 110% this season and see what he can do if he's given a legitimate shot. Zucker included a short note, as well showed some love to his alma mater on my card.

Charlie Coyle

Mailed out: April 30, 2014
Returned: June 9, 2014
c/o home return #28

Just like Jason Zucker, Charlie Coyle became one of my favourite players after watching him live at the 2012 WJC, it's just so fitting that they both play for the Wild. He spent one season at Boston University before departing to join the St John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL. He was drafted in the first round by the Sharks in 2010, but was traded to the Wild at the 2011 draft. He's been a regular with the Wild this past season, and really made an impact with the club during the playoffs putting up 7 points in 13 games while reportedly playing with two separated shoulders during the second round. Earlier this season he made a fans day, cementing the fact that he's one of my favourite players.
