Mike Ridley

Mailed out: September 15, 2014
Returned: January 23, 2015
Time in mail: 130 days

Signed by the Rangers as an undrafted free agent Mike Ridley looked like a steal for the blue shirts posting a 65 point rookie campaign, that was capped off by being named to the NHL All Rookie Team. His best season came during 1988 1989 with the Caps, he put up 89 points, and made his only NHL All Star appearance. He scored the first goal at Vancouver's Rogers Arena, formerly General Motors Place.

Dale Hunter

Mailed out: November 24, 2014
Returned: December 22, 2014
Time in transit: 28 days
c/o London Knights

Dale Hunter was originally drafted by the Quebec Nordiques, after 7 seasons there he was traded to the Washington Capitals in a deal that saw the Caps 1987 first round draft pick go the other way, Quebec later used it to select Joe Sakic. I sent him the O Pee Chee card for my set I'm collecting but he switched it out for this Upper Deck card.

Nick Kypreos

ebay Purchase

A case of I didn't have the card in the box set so it's cheaper for me to buy it autographed on ebay, than it is to buy the card blank and then ship it out. During his playing days Nick was a member of the 1994 Stanley Cup winning Rangers squad, where he was primarily used as an enforcer. During a 1997 preseason game Kypreos was punched unconscious during a fight and hit his face on the ice concussing himself, he was forced to retire due to post concussion syndrome. Today you can see him on TV as a Sportsnet Hockey analyst.

Karl Alzner

Mailed Out: January 26, 2014
Returned: March 26th, 2014
C/O Washington Capitals - return #10

A sweet return from Washington Capitals d man Karl Alzner, the former first rounder signed in a thin blue sharpie. Alzner had an unreal junior career with the Calgary Hitmen, and was part of two world junior gold medal teams in 2007 and 2008 captaining the latter. The Caps selected him fifth overall in 2007, and since 2010 Alzner has been a regular with the team playing as a shut down defenceman.
