Sanipass holds the right of being the first Native Canadian from New Brunswick to be drafted into the NHL, he was drafted 14th overall by the Blackhawks in 1986. He was a member of Team Canada when Punch Up Piestany took place at the World Junior Championships in 1987, after the tournament he earned a 7 game call up with the Blackhawks. He went on to play a few seasons with Chicago before joining Quebec.
