Brandon Bollig played his junior hockey with the United States Hockey League, then went off to school to play for the St Lawrence University Saints. Following his sophomore season the Chicago Blackhawks convinced him to leave school and sign with them, it paid off as Bollig won the cup with them in 2013. He was traded to the Flames during the 2014 NHL Draft.
