The Red Wings drafted promising young center Cory Emmerton in the second round of the 2006 draft. He drew into 71 games during the 2011 2012 season, and all 48 during the lockout shortened season. However he fell out of favour in the motor city this past season and spent the majority of the season with their AHL club.
In 2007 he was invited to Hockey Canadas World Junior camp where he unfortunately developed mono and had to be sent home ending his chances of wearing the maple leaf.
In May he signed with the KHL's HC Sochi, good luck overseas!
